AI summary — for doctors, generated from the abstract only
This case report describes a very rare case of two separate pseudoaneurysms in a 4-year-old girl's heart, arising as a complication of a bone infection that spread to the heart, successfully treated with urgent surgical repair.
What was studied
A case report of a 4-year-old girl diagnosed with dual left ventricular pseudoaneurysms following disseminated infection from osteomyelitis (bone infection) of the right femur, describing the diagnostic imaging workup and successful surgical repair of both pseudoaneurysms.
Key findings
- Left ventricular pseudoaneurysm is described as a rare complication following infective pericarditis in children, with dual (two simultaneous) pseudoaneurysms being an even rarer presentation.
- The patient had no cardiac symptoms; the pseudoaneurysms were identified through echocardiography and CT imaging performed during workup of disseminated infection from femur osteomyelitis.
- The patient was successfully managed with urgent surgical repair of both pseudoaneurysms without complications.
Clinical relevance
This case illustrates that serious cardiac complications like pseudoaneurysms can arise silently (without cardiac symptoms) from disseminated infections originating elsewhere in the body, suggesting that cardiac imaging may be warranted in children with disseminated infection even in the absence of cardiac symptoms, though this is based on a single rare case.
Who should care
Limitations
This is a single case report; findings cannot be generalized to predict the frequency of this rare complication or guide standard screening practices in other children with disseminated infections.
A bone infection in a young child's leg unexpectedly spread to cause two dangerous bulges in her heart wall, discovered only through imaging since she had no heart symptoms, and successfully repaired with surgery.

Abstract
Left ventricular pseudoaneurysm is a rare complication following infective pericarditis in children. We report a very rare case of dual left ventricular pseudoaneurysms in a 4-year-old girl, who was diagnosed following osteomyelitis of the right femur with disseminated infection. In the absence of cardiac symptoms, cardiac imaging including echocardiography and computed tomography helped to diagnose the dual ventricular pseudoaneurysms. The patient was successfully managed with urgent surgical repair of the two pseudoaneurysms without any complication.
